President's Remarks

It is an honor and a privilege to serve as the president of the Theta Omicron Foundation Board of Directors. Thank you so much for visiting our website!

Foundation membership consists of over 250 alumni, members, and affiliates of the University of North Carolina Chapter, the Theta Omicron of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and is representative of achievement in every field of human endeavor.

The Foundation was launched in September, 2016 in response to concerns regarding a report that cited an alarmingly low number of black males attending UNC. Our purpose is to support and develop programs to assist colleges and universities with recruiting, retaining, and graduating under-represented students of color, with emphasis on African American males.

The role of the Foundation is to cultivate partnerships with minority-focused student mentoring programs, connecting them to university stakeholders and alumni. We aim to channel efforts, interests, and capabilities of all to ensure that students have the opportunity to pursue academic excellence at the college of their choice.

We are dedicated to providing critically needed resources to ensure that young scholars reach their greatest potential as they pursue their goals and dreams. We will identify, support, encourage, and offer guidance as they navigate all aspects of the college choice process, and beyond.

Our members have chosen to invest their time, talents, and treasure to advance the Foundation’s mission. We look forward to sharing information regarding our developing initiatives with you on this website and invite you to support our efforts in any way you are able.
